To Embrace Christ is to Embrace Life and Love
Heaven in all its glory could be summed up in one word: Christ. He is the light of creation, the joy of all life, and above all, the deepest love of our souls. To embrace him is to embrace the meaning of life and the eternal power of God. As long as I live I will never forget his embrace, and I will never cease sharing the wonder and magnificence of it with others. But here is the great secret, the great truth: we will all know him and feel his miraculous and healing love. Whatever our glory or mansion or mission, we will all embrace him and love him again. ("The Ripple Effect," p. 12)

Scripture Verse
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12, KJV)

Prayer
Father, thank you for sending love and light through your Son, Jesus Christ, who so willingly gave his life to return me to you. Let me by his example impart to others that same ripple effect of love.

Christmas Prayers and Miracles
Like no other season, it is at Christmas that we open our hearts to the possibility of miracles. More than the lights, the music, the decorations, it is the giving of ourselves which allows God to enter in and to reveal his tender love. I've written that "sometimes God will give us a miracle just to remind us that he can," and it is often through our own prayers that his miracles are brought about. I was reminded of this recently by the following letter from a visitor to my website:

During the Christmas season of 1990, my grandmother was in the hospital for heart failure. She had been in and out of the hospital for many years, and each time we had thought that it could be her time to leave us. But each time she had fought through and lived on. However, this time, the doctors told us she would not live, and we sadly prepared for the worst. Since my grandmother's Catholic faith was extremely important to her, we had a priest come in to give her Last Rites. Many family members were present for this, and we all prayed intensely around her bed. After that prayer session, she surprised the doctors and gave us the best Christmas present--a miracle--she recovered and soon returned home again! That event made me truly realize the power of prayer, and although I didn't understand the energy behind prayer back then or how the light of our prayers reaches heaven, I knew in my heart that our prayers had helped heal my grandmother that Christmas, and through God's grace kept her on earth another three years!

This miracle was an obvious one, but many miracles must be seen through eyes of faith. I am certain that through daily prayer we will begin to see miracles more clearly and more abundantly in our lives. Prayers do have power to produce miracles. We may never know all the good we do, the hearts we touch, the lives we bless through prayer. Countless miracles occur each day in the lives of those who reach out to God. Let us remember to pause this Christmas season to pray. To give thanks to God for his love which never fails. And to ask him sincerely for the blessings of peace, healing, abundance, goodwill, and harmony which our loved ones--and our world--need so very much.
