My girls and I experienced an incredible outpouring of our Heavenly Father's love and concern for us last July. We had become stranded in the desert due to a map which wrongly shows a good road cutting through the Arizona Gila Indian reservation for about 15 miles. In reality, the road does not go through but comes to an end. When I turned to go back, my car became stuck and we became stranded and unaided in the desert for one and a half days in 107+ degree weather.
My beautiful 6-year and 16-month old daughters were going quickly and I had to make the most unimaginable choice possible: to stay and watch them die in the heat and then die too, or leave them and try to go for help. I had to do all I could. I remembered that "Embraced By The Light" tells that heaven considers the prayers of mothers for their children, and I was praying for their lives. The Lord told me to go for help. I prayed for angels to be with my girls. I prayed for strength that I did not have, being severely dehydrated and heat exhausted, to be able to get to help for them.
Along the way, I passed out and collapsed several times. I found new terrain that was "impossible" to get through. The searchers said I could not have made it through the high walls of thickets, thick brush, and ravines. But with God's help I did get through. Because the searchers would not allow me to return and show them where my daughters were, they did not find them until the next morning. It was a miracle my daughters were still alive and not harmed, and everyone involved knew that it was a miracle.
Then when I told my 6-year-old daughter that I was so sorry I had to leave them alone, she said, "Oh, we weren't alone, Mom. There were ladies in bright white that were with us and brought three jugs of water out of the bush for us." She described one and said she looked like me, that she thought I had come back.
The good news is that the Lord did indeed hear this mother's prayers. My girls are well and were so delighted again with life when they left the hospital. However, since then they have not been with me. Our Arizona Child Protection Services (CPS) took these girls away and launched the most incredibly horrible campaign of lies and deceit against me. In my despair I went to purchase a copy again of your book "Embraced" and was happy to see another, "The Awakening Heart," which you wrote since the time I read your first. I know it was destined for me to have the words you wrote in "Awakening..." at this time because everything applies so well. My mother and I were especially encouraged by your words describing the roles that mothers and grandmothers would have to combat satan's work here, especially towards the family. We have both endured so much pain and anguish in these last months, knowing that my girls need us and yet unable to do more to help them. We felt all our efforts and grief have been in vain at times because CPS is so powerful and seems unbeatable here.
My evidence trial begins on Dec. 11 and scheduled for that day and Dec. 17-19 in Juvenile Court here in Mesa, AZ. This is my first and only chance for defense. A number of hearings have taken place where there has been a presumption of guilt placed on me, during which I could say nothing to the contrary. The judge and all involved with the proceedings seem to assume CPS was correct and they are not. My girls need their mother, and I need my family back! I am asking for your prayers and the prayers of all others you can think of. We need another miracle because these walls of thickets are very high. Many have said I will lose and perhaps even face having my parental rights completely severed or be criminally charged for negligence. Of course, they said 6 year-old Amanda was hallucinating when she was interviewed about the event. I do not believe our Father would save us from the desert, as he did Hannah and Ishmael, only to have us suffer a lifetime of such excrutiating pain afterwards. I believe my role is to fight for my family and for my rights as a U.S. citizen and daughter of God, and then help others as an advocate from what I've learned.
We are contacting all prayer lines possible to ask for prayers on our behalf for this important work: Carol Ozment (my mother), Holly Waite (me), Amanda (6) and Natalia (19 mo.), my daughters.
