When
I became pregnant with my youngest child, I
was not too happy at that time. I remember telling
my doctor I had no feelings for this child.
I told him I feel funny about this pregnancy.
I'm scared. My doctor kissed my forehead and
said everything will be just fine. He said,
"I'm here and I'll be with you."
Two
weeks later I received a phone call telling
me my doctor had passed away in his sleep! All
I could say was, but he promised he would be
here with me!
Later
that night I had a dream. My doctor came to
me and said, if you start to see spots before
your eyes go to the hospital and make sure your
child is delivered that same night.
A
month later the spots came, and my beautiful
son was born. I named him DeAngelo. He came
into the world with breathing problems and almost
didn't make it.
One
night while he was in the NIC unit I came down
to see him. He had taken a turn for the worst
and doctors were working on him. I prayed to
God asking him to please save my baby! I blamed
myself for what I said when I was pregnant with
DeAngelo, that I was not happy to be pregnant.
I asked for forgiveness.
DeAngelo
made it through. Seven days later I took my
child home. I remember really being able to
look him over. I'm a light skin black woman
with brown eyes, the same as DeAngelo's father.
Our son looked just like an angel with bright
blue eyes, light brown skin and a touch of blond
across the front of his hair. An angel!
When
my son was two, one warm summer morning I was
bathing him in the kitchen sink. We both were
looking out the window up at the sky. That's
when he turned to me and said, "Mommy you
know why I came here?" I was so shocked
at what he said. I replied "No, baby why?"
He said in the sweetest voice, "I came
here for you, to look after you."
A
month later I was hit by an 18-wheeler truck
head on. That morning my 2-year- old son had
been trying to warn me by acting up and not
wanting to go to the sitter's that day. He truly
gave me all kinds of signs, and now I am more
sure to pay attention.
I
thank God for sparing my life and showing me
what he did. Most importantly, I thank him for
DeAngleo who is now 9 years old and is the little
love of my life. He is very watchful of me.
He is my own little angel!
