Joe's Parable There was this man walking on a mountainside. As he walked, he was enjoying the beautiful view that he was seeing. Well, unfortunately the young man stepped too close to the edge of the mountain, and he fell off. He was falling from the mountain, and as he was falling he just reached out and was able to grab hold of a twig, and he held onto that twig. He was holding it, just hanging there. And as he was hanging there, he thought, "Man, what's going to happen here?" He looks up and he sees that he has fallen about 100 feet. He looks down and sees that he has 900 more feet to fall down to the bottom of the canyon. He thinks, "Oh no! What am I going to do?" So he's scared. "Help me!" he looks up and yells. There is no reply. "Help me!" he yells again. Still no reply. Just then the twig moves a bit because it is weighing down with him holding it. Now he is really scared. So he says, "Oh God, is anyone up there?" And then a deep voice comes down, "Hello." "Who's up there" the man asks. "It's the Lord," came the voice. "Can you help me?" he pleads. The Lord says, "Yes, let go of the twig." The man's hanging there. "Whoa!" He looks down 900 feet below. He looks back up into the air and says, "Is there anyone else up there?" |
